Last year working with student council, the way that we ever informed the student bodywas over announcements, going into class, and flyers. This year we have made several PSA’s on the TV/projector. The students have grown in their creative thinking and technology skills. The way that we as a student council think is “What Public Service Announcement can we create for this special event?” In the beginning, I was the main brain stormer for what the PSAs would be, say, look like, etc... Now all I have to do is throw out what our next event is. The kids have been totally creative and coming up with ideas of how to get our point across and do it in a fun and exciting way! We have created at first 7 different PSA’s for the student body. Our fundraising, attendance, and over all participation has increased at least 25% from last year!
9/19/09 I have already created a movie/ PSA announcement with student council. I felt it went well. The topic was a how to for our school fund raiser. The students were involved in the acting, creating what to say and having input to the plan. I did most of the filming, editing, and voice over. I am not quite sure how to get the students more involved...?
My homeroom students seem to be very interested in the camera as well. I have spent a couple of days of just recording specific students who have been referred to our Self Study Team (this is where we take our concerns with students on behavior or academics.) It is interesting to see how they behave when the camera is pointed towards them. (possibly not even recording). It has also given me another look/insight into their little word.
I was going to intorduce the photo story to my homeroom. I am not sure of the topic yet.
